Good Books: Joshua and the Flow of Biblical History

I am presently reading "Joshua and the Flow of Biblical History" by Francis Schaeffer. This is I believe one of his "minor" books but I am finding it to be a very good book indeed. Along with his book, "No Little People" in this book we see Schaeffer the preacher rather than Schaeffer the philosopher or apologist or sociologist. However, of course, we see him applying the same concepts that he shares in his other books as he looks at Joshua and Moses and Abraham and other Old Testament characters. As modern Christains we tend to focus on the New Testament but this book is especially good in helping us to see how all the New Testament concepts that we hold have their genesis in the Old Testament. I would urge those of you who are readers of Schaeffer to consider giving this book of his a read-it will challenge you.

Greetings,Paul-sensei.
Thank you for turning us to "Joshua and the Flow of Biblical History" by Francis Schaeffer.
I totally agree with you that we ought to put more emphasis on the reading of the Old Testament, which can enhance our understanding of the relationships between the new Testment and the Old Testament, how
all the New Testament concepts that we hold to have their roots in the Law and the Prophets(the Old Testament), as you mentioned.
Looks like this book by Francis Schaeffer will serve as a proper referrence book for that purpose. We must bring ourselves to spend more time on books like this, which will challenge us.

Speaking of Francis Schaeffer, here's the link I came across to the address he delivered ,based on A Christian Manifesto,a book introduced in your earlier post.
http://www.peopleforlife.org/francis.html

""I want to say to you, those of you who are Christians or even if you are not a Christian and you are troubled about the direction that our society is going in, that we must not concentrate merely on the bits and pieces. But we must understand that all of these dilemmas come on the basis of moving from the Judeo-Christian world view -- that the final reality is an infinite creator God -- over into this other reality which is that the final reality is only energy or material in some mixture or form which has existed forever and which has taken its present shape by pure chance""

Hmmmmmm......

Peace always

Dear Osamu San,

Thanks again for your very good comments. And thank you for passing on that good link to Francis Schaeffer's address that he gave in 1982-I was really challenged again as I read it tonight. In that one address he shares so many important concepts! Perhaps it is even better than the book in that everything comes out in a more concentrated form! I plan to pass on that link to some of my friends and I trust they also will be challenged by it.

May God bless you and I am looking forward to the next time we can talk together face to face.

In Jesus,

Paul
